Last week we started a collaboration with the Germans Tries i Pujol University Hospital in a study of periodic screening with rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen tests carried out at community activities with high risk of infection.
This study, STOPCOV, is carried out by the Hospital Universitari Germans Tries i Pujol in conjunction with the Fundació Lluita contra la Sida i les Malalties Infeccioses and the Atenció Primària de la Metropolitana Nord de l’ICS.
The initiative of the study is to identify asymptomatic cases of people infected by coronavirus and to be able to assess the viability of rapid tests in order to reduce the transmission of the virus.
Over the next few weeks, all volunteer players and staff will undergo several rapid SARS-Cov-2 antigen tests that will be performed every 15 days. Analyzing the samples on the spot and giving the test results.
The tests will take place at the entrance of the training field, being able to access with a negative test result. In the event of a positive result, a confirmatory PCR test must be carried out, undergo medical control and be in quarantine following the instructions marked by the health authorities.
Every 15 days the health personnel will come to our training field. Having started the study on December 1, the next date for the second test will be the week of December 14.
With the collaboration in this study of periodic screening we want to be able to stop the transmission of the coronavirus. We are aware of the delicate situation that we are currently living with the pandemic and we want to contribute stop it.
